Has anyone performed stereotaxic surgeries into the BLA from an angle rather than straight down? I would like to angle the injection so that i do not damage the striatum, but don't know a good angle to approach the BLA.
I don't think you would need to worry about hitting the striatum (Bregma 1.70 to -1.30) if your aiming for the BLA (Bregma -2.12 to -4.30). But with that being said, I usually angle my cannulae at 20-30 degrees to avoid the lateral ventricles when I target the MeA and BNST. You may try these as a starting point, and adjust from here if necessary. Hope this helps. Good luck with your experiments.
