I'm looking for a primary antibody to detect tdTomato in spinal cord slices of mutant mice. I know that the most widely used antibody for this purpose is the mouse anti-RFP from Rockland, but I need a different host, specifically either Chicken or Guinea Pig. Does anybody have experience with the chicken anti-mCherry antibody from Abcam (ab205402) in tissue slices or have any other antibody to suggest?
I've had good success staining for tdTomato in a mouse model of lung adenocarcinoma using a rabbit anti-RFP polyclonal from Rockland (Cat #600-401-379). Using at 1:250 (4˚, overnight) gave very strong staining with 2 minutes of incubation with DAB.

I don't know for the chicken antibody from Abcam, but I can suggest a guinea pig anti-DsRed and goat anti-tdtomato which both work pretty well. I'm using them to detect either mCherry or tdtomato in mouse brain slices (transgenic and/or after a viral injection).
Guinea pig: Frontier Institute, ref DsRed-GP-Af360.
Goat: Sicgen, ref AB8181-200. For this one, we asked for a free sample and they sent us free aliquots for this anti-tdtomato as well as anti-GFP and anti-GAPDH!
For the dilution, 1:1000 works well in our hands. Hope this helps!
