I use Trizol method with liquid nitrogen, but I got low quality of RNA.
Try using a Buchner funnel, filter flask, tubing, filter paper and a sink to collect the RNAlater while washing DEPC-water. I use seedlings that were plated on MS media, treated with RNAlater and then frozen. First I pour off the RNA later into the funnel. Then I use tweezers to tease out the seedlings onto filter paper and continuously wash them with DEPC-water
