What is differences between expression of haemagglutinin or neuraminidase surface antigenic in influenza viruses? Expressing recombinant HA have better antigenicity than neuraminidase?
Haemagglutinin or neuraminidaseare the two envelop proteins of influenza. Variants of this proteins helps the virus to escape immune system. Different strains of this may have different combinations of variants of HA and NA. Inactivated vaccines are formulated on the basis of quantity of HA antigen (~15micrograms of HA). NA is also important for immnogenecity and protection, but quantification of NA is not done.
