Hello all,

I am planning to subject bacterial cells to combinations of heat and mechanical lysis (bead-beating) and wanted to check for DNA shearing/integrity using gel electrophoresis.

The DNA yield will range from 0.2 - 1 ng/mL

I am planning on using a 0.8% agarose gel but unsure how long to run them for.

I have never done this before and wanted to know if I must dilute the DNA before loading and running the gel.
