Hello. My research group is going to purchase two channel potentiostat/EIS measurement device. The choices are as below:
1. Two Gamry 50000E single channel devices: 5A, 6V
2. One multichannel Autolab AUT.MAC204 device + 10A booster

I would not normally speak badly of a company in open conversation, however we have a handful or more Autolab potentiostats (PGSTAT302N) but have had major issues with the company. The latest NOVA software is prone to crashing, with the data being very difficult to recover. And then we have had several hardware issues. We have had to send two machines back on several occasions at our cost, causing big problems due to time loss (users then have to share other potentiostats).
In contrast we have a large multichannel potentiostat (VMP3) from BioLogic fitted with many channels and various modules. We have had zero issues with this. The software is also very good for performing more advanced testing - our group does a lot of work on biofuel/fuel cells, and supercapacitors. I would therefore suggest looking at BioLogic. I know that many other universities and industries are using them for fuel cell testing.
We also have potentiostats from Ivium, Origalys, PalmSens, AMETEK (Princeton Applied Research) and CH Instruments. these all work well but the software is not as good refined in my opinion as Autolab or BioLogic.
Unfortunately I have never used a Gamry potentiostat. But I have never heard anything negative about them.
Software is always user dependent. Some people will love something that others hate, so I generally recommend people try different systems first (either a demo, or someone else at the university that is using one or the other).
So far as hardware function/performance goes, additional details would be necessary to determine. The Interface 5000 can accurately measure impedances below 0.001 Ohm, but it isn't very good for current below 1 uA (or large impedances). If your fuel cells are in the > 1 A range that's fine, but it won't be great for measuring, e.g. CV at a microelectrode. You can always call or email to discuss the particulars of your research.
(Disclosure: I do work for Gamry, which is why I've only commented on that system.)
Also look into CS150 model of CorrTest. I recently was in a similar position as yours, with limited budget. I was able to get this one for my 1cm2 zirconia based fuel cells, and results are quite good so far.
