Can anyone speak to any psych or health studies that have dealt with qualitative analysis for massive qualitative data sets? Our team does not have funding for NVivo. Does anyone know of any free (and confidential) qualitative software?
QDA Miner Lite is a free version of their more full featured program. It will do basic coding and retrieval (but the full featured version costs even more than NVivo).
I am not sure what you mean by analyzing a "massive data set," but in general qualitative data software requires that you read and mark (i.e., "code") the data. the newest version of NVivo does claim to have some automated approaches of coding, but I would consider those to still be untested at this point.
