In semi-structured questionnaire for case study, can I use likert type scale to collect specif data against some components? The book written by Dawson where he mentioned four types of interview instruments and "Interview with fix response question” is one of them. It indicates that I can use close form of question with any types of scale.
Now, my specific question- is it scientifically approve to use likert type scale for one item in semi-structure questionnaire for case study research?

You could use Likert-scored items with any form of interview, but the key questions what you would do with the data. If it is entirely for descriptive purposes, I don't see any problem, but if you want to do statistical tests, your N would probably be too small to produce meaningful results.

Likert scale is good and is amenable to descriptive and inferential statistics. Both you need to supplement it with demographics to make it more meaningful.
