Definitely student- centered. The research shows that by utilizing the information through multiple learning styles it can be easier applied and understood. Besides that, who wants to sit and listen to someone drone on?

I definitely agree with Chelsea that a student-centric approach is preferable.

I personally use a dialogic approach (rather than lectures) whereby questions are posed that engage undergraduates in critical debate and their responses then steer the direction of the subsequent coverage of the material. Similarly, connectivism also encourages independent learning and the building of extended academic networks in areas of personal interest, both of which are crucial for undergraduates to discover their preferred research areas.

A student-centered curriculum enables active learning and engagement of the students. This approach is usually achieved through small group discussions, PBL or case-based design, student-led seminars, self-directed learning, and collaborative learning. This is the design most educational institutes invest in applying. The old traditional style is the teacher-centered curriculum. I wish that the student-centric approach can be applied thoroughly & uniformly since they are the ones who will learn & who will be engaged in the educational build-up process.

However, in some places you are not allowed to be "out of the box" & you have to stick to old style teaching "the sender-receiver approach".

A powerful "teacher" (thanks to political affiliation!) can shut up all mouths: no questions, no discussion…etc. Students are "allowed" to write notes only! In some places, the more chapters you teach the better teacher you are even if you just say few words about each chapter. If this is not cheating, then what is it for God's sake ?

I personally use student centric approach. it gives the students chance to learn from each other and to be more independent. at the same time this approach reduces the pressure on me of doing all the work. instead of being the only provider of knowledge in the class, I enjoy being facilitator who supports students' work, give feedback and guide them to be more independent.
