I am new user of agilent CE 7100. I worked on project on varietal identification and finding adulteration % of non basmati rice. For that I would use CE instead of genetic analyzer, is it possible?
After PCR, for % adulteration I need an allele peak and its area for analysis. Can I do it by CE with this specification: PVA coated 24.5 cm eff ×100 μm capillary or some other capillary be used? and any software is present for electropherogram analysis? i attached a figure which is of genetic analyzer about allele and peak area that similar i get by CE?
DNA analyser is an equipment dedicated for the purpose. Its advantage comes from multi-capillary system that allows for parallel separation of a panel of the samples, tailored consumables and specific software supporting all the genotyping analyses.
CE equipment in general is of the same principles and probably can do the same things however, I would be reserved that you can achieve the same efficacy as using dedicated equipment. Please take into consideration that CE software is not as supportive in genotyping analysis as the one used in DNA analysers.
As Bruce Neagle replied to your previous question, some CE applications exist for the genotyping purpose (look at Beckman/AB Sciex web-site) but IMO it would require much more of your effort to obtain good results.
In conclusion I would say it could be difficult but not impossible.
