my question is about the Colorimetric method used for phenol detection what is the reference used in the blank cuvette

In UV-visible spectrophotometer, The blank cuvette contains the solvent in which the phenolic compound was dissolved.e.g. If we take water to dissolve the phenol, then water will be taken in blank cuvette.
