I have set my contrasts up in SPSS, however the output for my interaction contrasts simply says "This L matrix is not estimable. Hypothesis tests cannot be computed." And I am unsure as to whether this is because one of my main effects is not significant?

Hi David, my experiment is a 2 x 4 between subjects design. I suppose my question really is what this SPSS output means when trying to compute interaction contrasts: "This L matrix is not estimable. Hypothesis tests cannot be computed."
In this case you should provide the data, and also every step you did on the way to produce the error message. It's neither very satisfactory nor efficient to poke around in the dark.
