We are publishing articles to share our findings and also to enhance our profesional career. Which is important? to publish more and more article as first author? or as a co-author?
And what about the h-index?
From the point of the scientific research ethics, the first author should be the author who makes more effort in the research,
and ofcourse the first author will be more visible and sounded
First author has more valuable one in research findings... If the H index increases ur score card will increase in the interview but u must be sound in the research what u have published....

I agree with you that when you publish as a first author has more visibility. On the other hand, I think that the H-index formula should take in consideration this concern (being principal author, corresponding author and senior - last author).

As your view it's true ... If we publish with our senior professor we r forced to include their name as first and ours second ... It is a true fact all must accept the same ... This concern H index value can be taken as consideration...
The first author is the most visible one and the one who write the manuscript. H index didnt depend on the order of your name on the paper but depend on the number of citation of your papers

1st author has more contribution in a research findings and he should receive more attention in any cases..
I believe that the first author is the person most involved with the work, who followed and performed the work in its entirety. In my group, we have the custom of placing the supervisor / advisor as the last author. But that does not make it any less important. It does this to define who guided the work.

Many thanks for your contribution. I do agee with you when saying that the first author should be the most involved in the work. It's also of tradition to put the name of the supervisor or the senior scientist as least author.
However, I have a problem. As the head of a research group, sometimes researchers from my group suggest to put my name as senior researcher (least one). The problem is that some papers are in biological fields but out of the field I publish within (cancer, medicinal plants). What will be your decision? accept to be a co-author? or not?

In my opinion, the research work is a team work, the order of the authors is not interesting insofar as it concerns the contribution of the co-authors in achieving scientific objectives. We can be the first authors as we can be last in the list of authors, The bottom line for me is that the goal is achieved.
