Dear Tal, I hope that your work is actually a new kind of "DNA" of forensic materials. I believe that this is the future in forensic analysis. Maybe we we'll be able to stablish the identity of several materials used in crimes in a way to link them with its users. The method of chemical fingerprint (I call physical-chemical fingerprint) with the analysis of isotopes, isomers and traces of minerals will be of great importance ina few years.
Yes, we see that even now, getting this kind of information in invaluable. This information is hard to get (we used the 5975-SMB GC-MS which in many cases is the only system capable of such analysis) so these capabilities are not yet available for every CSI team.
