The main things in fabricating a solar pond is that it should have vertical sides and the lining should be of thick black plastic.it should be able to withstand corrosion and also black colour will help in absorbing all the radiations from sun

Instead of going for plastics we can move on to wood 

salt water and wood???? i think it is bad combination..the wood will be corroded.

wood is the cheap and best material.
