Anybody know how to apply bolt load using thermal contraction force? i want to apply it for explicit analysis in Abaqus Explicit. Where to apply thermal coefficient,temperature change? Thanks in advances.
since thermal coefficient and temperature change both are parameters to quantify change in length they can be rooted into load module
You must define thermal coefficient in material properties. Then, you should define and apply a temperature field to the bolt. Using bolt load is an easier approach.
Thanks Richard Moran. Do we need to make two step analysis for this case..pretension of bolt and after that load the plate (bearing test)?..for the thermal expansion, orthotropic otr isotropic (bolt is titanium). I am glad if you can help me a little nit. Thanks.
