I would agree! I think I pointed out in another post some time ago that what is often regarded as 'good' tends to be associated with long term wellbeing of all, and what is regarded as 'bad' tends to consider only the short term wellbeing of the individual. I would be concerned about teaching ethics where students were focussed less on the first than the second. Exhorting students to act diligently and mindfully, for example, is not enough if they believe they duty bound to persecute - and worse - people who hold differing belief systems. I believe that educators should set a moral example as well as telling their students how to think and how to act.

Ethics and morals are the essencial regulators of civilised societies.

If you make a survey on the necessity of ethics and morals, the greatest majority of the population will agree on its essencial role and necessity. Even the worst of criminals in prison, would happily agree, . Nevertheless, crimes against ethics and morals are the most practised of human actions, and often the least severely punished. 

The world and humanity have survived for so long without morality. Just look at the 20th century history! However, if we all led a moral life, the world would be a better and more prosperous place. Conflicts will always exist.

Ethics or simple honesty is the building blocks upon which our whole society is based, and business is a part of our society, and it's integral to the practice of being able to conduct business, that you have a set of honest standards.

Aristotle desired that we all flourish and be the best that we can be Mills idea was that a decision around an ethical issue should provide the greatest happiness whether a few or many achieved it and Kants ideas of ethics is that nothing is black or white and no matter what decision you make their is always that grey area. When we select the ethics that we agree with or appeals to us then we must validate that decision. One of our lecturers set us an essay for our exams based on a case study of a young boy with ADHD and we had to demonstrate our understanding around the ethical concepts of Mills, Aristotle and Kant I am quite sure that if all those essays were looked at the answers would be dependant upon the moral and ethical values of the individual and how they perceived the situation every outcome given would probably have been very different. I think I may have uploaded my Ethics essay to research gate. Our lecturer just told us when we completed the essay that there were no wrong answers just many different views and perceptions made around the one topic with all outcomes being similar. Dependant on which ethical stance we favoured.

             No doubt you are all saying right. I have little bit more to add in it.

Ethics are the part of our upbringing, they are essential for healthy survival of ourselves and others. Being a Muslim When I taught about Ethics in Psychology, I was amazed to see that all these things are same that my religion taught me that to save the right of other in various conditions, to promote the wellness of others, to be sincere in your profession and so on......

As a teacher we must be a role modal of ethics. We should not only teach the ethics by we should also follow them because I believe that verbal learning for ethics should start in previous educational stages such as in school level, and in higher education practical implication of ethics will be more effective.

Even a cursory look at the world today reveals the truth of statement. We exercised the option of doing away with the study of ethics and morals in schools and institutions of higher learning, and look where we are today. Corruption in every sphere of life, rampant greed which has led to rapacious use of resources, high levels of inequality in society leading to more unethical practices - and we have a vicious circle taking humanity to the brink of disaster,  

Can then ethics be a luxury or an option? I think not.

Dear Kiran, yours is a fundamental question regarding the possibility of life in common. I completely agree with your point of view. Lifelong education is essential to prepare individuals to understand the importance of the community and their role as part of it. Citizens must be taught the laws and their importance, so all basic decisions will be easy to decide. In fact, people must understand that obeying the law is not ethical, but mandatory. There will be few confrontations between ethics and the law, and it is always desirable that unethical laws be eliminated. It bears noting that ethical decisions are infrequent if we follow common usages and government laws. Often we can base a decision on the law. It is when something goes amiss and there is no law providing for a situation that we must stand and decide, thus we usually have little opportunity to practice our ethical "talent". What to do? We can either train as we do in my country: filling questionnaires, watching movies that portray a breach of ethics, etc. These instruments are lame and boring. I have done them for years because they are required from all public employees and I teach at a public university. 

My guess is to model extreme situations almost impossible to decide, so that individuals face choosing among contradictory answers or actions. After all, ethics are the critique of morals, and finding your way in ethics requires knowledge of local mores and an intuition of how to deal in extreme situations not solvable by recurring to mores. We must talk about ethics to children and adults alike, bust we must teach them to devise their own decisions. Because the idea is not to teach pre-determined decisions to individuals for specific situations, but making them learn to detect an unprecedented situation and deal with it because they have developed an ethical mind. Ethics require freedom of choice, without that, no one will be able to assume responsibility for his or her decisions or actions.

We must talk about ethics to  children not only own but others's children and adults, we must teach them to devise their own decisions.ethics will go on & transfer in children first of all home,friends,school, society,working place,country.
