I have tuned my svm model by setting ranges of 5-5 cost and gamma values using 'e1071' package of r. But the problem comes when I use this model for prediction. The above error has popped up on screen.
Can anyone suggest what should be done in order to make predictions done using this model?

Read ?tune. tune returns a tune object (which is a kind of list) which includes a lot of information on the tuning processes (ie. the best parameters and a report on performance of different parameter combinations) in addition to the best model (if requested). Take a look at your trained model and make sure you're passing the right part to predict
I had something like your problem.
Error in UseMethod("predict") :
no applicable method for 'predict' applied to an object of class "data.frame"
And I am use rasters.

I noticed that i had mistakenly put my dataframe into the predict()-function instead of
the model.
