we are doing a research on simulation and modeling of a novel energy system. we have considered a biochar combustor to Supply an auxiliary heat for gasification reactor and now the problem with this biochar combustor is that we need its enthalpy as a function of temperature to determine the biochar combustion temperature. do you have any idea how to determine it? is there any other way to get combustion temperature?
The heat capacity of char is around 0.24 cal/g-c from the engineering toolbox (link attached). There are different types of biomass char so there may be some variation in this value.

Look at the formula for determining the thermal effect in the calorimeter. Imagine that your system is a calorimeter. Try to eliminate heat losses or evaluate them. Compare with your fuel. I wish you success.
You can determine the combustion (flame) temperature using the stoichiometric reactor in Aspen Plus ( Rstoic). You need to write all oxidation reactions and assign 1 as a conversion for a complete oxidation. You need to choose adiabatic mode. This will show you the maximum temperature. For the enthalpy, you can determine it from the heat of reaction.
