Due to advancements in medicine in recent years, a significant portion of our population in the country has become elderly, and we need to consider them as individuals with special needs. We should anticipate and address their needs in advance, now rather than tomorrow. These needs include:
1. Smart communication tools, including smart medical devices such as blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
2. Physical and medical therapy for osteoporosis. We need to develop tools that help individuals build resistance to osteoporosis, which begins after the age of 40 and marks the end of the body's building phase and the start of cellular breakdown. We should strive to reduce diseases in this age group that correspond to individuals with special needs.
3. Mobility aids, transportation, and stair climbing devices.
4. Body support structures. We can manufacture many structures through modern precision industries, but it requires more detailed information about devices and tools, provided financial support is available.
5. Development of technologies used at home for individuals with disabilities, special needs, and the elderly, such as cooking tools and packaged medical test kits that individuals with special needs can perform at home and send with a carrier to a testing lab or their company.
It is evident that the economy benefits from supporting individuals with special needs in the workplace, whether they are young or elderly, to enable them to continue working remotely or provide necessary facilities for them in companies as long as their minds are capable of working. The society should provide all necessary facilities for them, provided there is government and private support and an appropriate social policy.
For example, a university professor who undergoes a laryngectomy and is separated from his academic work due to a lack of necessary accommodations for him to continue suitable work with his health condition, or many other cases where the society fails in its duty towards individuals with special needs, sooner or later, they will become part of emergency cases. Everything mentioned above that we can develop should be within a work structure that anticipates and changes the future.
