I want to use strain gauges for glass (rings) surface instead of steel surface as normally done in ASTM C1583 to measure strains in concrete rings. is it feasible?? if yes, what is likely difference in steel and glass readings / strain signals??
Some manufacturers offer dedicated strain gauges for concrete. In contrast to standard foil strain gauges they are wire strain gauges with a different backing material. Gauge-lengths of 60 to 120 mm are not unusual for application on concrete.
