i am going to apply phosphorus (ssp) and pottasium (sop) fertilzer to maize crop. to check whether phosphorus and pottash or both have any effect on maize Nitrogen uptake. keeping urea as basal dose. i need some litrature in supporting or opposing
Dear Ejaz ul Haq, The removal of nutrients of a good maize crop is approximately 150, 80, 60 for N, P and K kg/ha, respectively. In terms of Phosphorus and Potassium the recommendation would relate to soil levels. Phosphorus is generally most responsive in the early growth while N and K responses in the later growth cycle. Check the literature for the fertilizer industry with query of relative response for N focus compared to complete NPK. In the environment of crop diseases such as stalk rot the ability to give complete nutrition and particularly K is related to less stalk rot. You might want to have a stalk rot and a non stalk rot environment to show differences of complete nutrition versus N response. . I would suggest getting a complete soil analysis and getting feedback from experts related to your studies. Good luck. Paul Reed Hepperly
