Can anyone suggest a good reference for using EBSD to detect different phases of calcium phosphate? I have only found 2 papers, however they both reported that the crystal size of hydroxyapatite was too small. I am most interested in brushite (dicalcium phosphate).
If you intend to do experiments - EBSD mapping - you would need to find the database / crystal structures for the phases of interest. If they are already on the system/software. You can straightforward do the analysis, take a map and evaluate orientations, phase fractions etc. If they are not, the references cannot help you in that direction. You still need to import the crystal structures into the software.

We measured apatite with EBSD already and it did not make any problems. In contrast, brushit we've never seen. The problem might be that it is very soft Mohs hardness 2.5, comparable to gold or silver. Therefore, a mechanical polishing is probably not the best.
