The world pandemic has caused huge health concerns but has also substantially disrupted educational systems with little relief in the current situation. This begs the question about what can be done to meet the pent up demand caused by COVID-19 for eLearning research and accommodate those who find themselves suddenly online?
The present need extends to the near future as the pandemic necessitate remote learning and instruction by individuals who are ill prepared to deliver or receive it. Traditional publication cycles will in due course serve this need but not to the level that meets the current demand in a meaningful way.
Specifically, what are the benefits, drawbacks, and issues that surround an acceleration of scholarly publications concerning suddenly online contexts of eLearning? This would not replace traditional publication cycles but be an addition. A relatively few examples currently exist such as the attached description and a rapid response edition of the American Psychologist. Contributing to this discussion will help expand the options, help anticipate the conditions, and perhaps provide a framework for current and future endeavors to meet time-intensive needs in scholarship.
