Agree that Academics/ Researchers deserve better commendation. In my view, the the type of work and contribution carried out by Academics/ Researchers is not visible immediately to the people by and large. The positive impact of their work is felt and get appreciated much later.

International companies adopt professions (most are not real talents, but the creation of a fictitious myth) Promotes through these professions products and achieve huge profits, Researchers should update their research objectives and methods to become patents that multinationals want to buy their production rights.

Yes, the academics deserve appreciation and praise for the great role they play in teaching and research in all fields. Indeed, their message is great and effective in building an integrated society with a culture, awareness and knowledge.

In the present scenario many deserving people too cannot afford to have good posts without political backing.

It is natural that academic research because of his contribution may command a respect this does not necessary mean that only academic researcher gets such salutation . Society has noted the contribution of the profession medical surgeon ,contribution of legal profession & we cannot not afford to close our eyes for the writer of prominence who have given their publication for the guideline ,for the mankind in the general .

I agree with you. But the poor understanding about capacity and works of academic and research people by general public made this situation.

There are many people, in many professions, that only rarely, if ever, get any "glory." Perhaps we should wonder the other way around. Why is it that entertainers, including sports and cinema, get all this exaggerated recognition, for pursuing what is ultimately "just entertainment?"

But never mind that. Back to the subject at hand. I have noticed something repeatedly, in academia, on this very subject, applicable to universities. I don't think the same occurs in schools prior to university level.

Graduation ceremonies are festive occasions, in which students from the graduating class, and their families and friends, celebrate the conclusion of the students' challenging journey. So, the gathered masses, in these ceremonies, are predominantly associated with the students graduating. Not with the faculty. Correct? Frequently hundreds or even thousands of people, attend such ceremonies, all happy and proud for the graduating class.

And yet, are these ceremonies not frequently "side-tracked" to focus on the achievements of the faculty? Not saying that those achievements are less than stellar, but still, it's not what the gathered masses are there for, is it?

Just a thought. (Likely to generate some unsympathetic grumbling in this august forum.)

Yes off course Academics and Researchers needs more Respect Recommendation Dignity Honor Awards and above all Best place in the Society. In the Developed Countries like USA UK others Academics and Researchers do get all the Respect and Honor but in the Developing or Under Develop Countries all the Privileges goes to Politicians Players Army men and Government Officials. This is wrong as the Privilege should be divided equally and fairly. Respect for the Teachers is essential and also more Pay Scale so they don’t look for other Attractions. Those nations don’t respect their Teachers and Scholars always stays in dark and stay behind the educated Society. Regards

yes and crucial because it will attract student. In Malaysia the interest in young student for STEM is low.

To build a strong future, we need to encourage the Builders. To raise a generation, the stakeholders must be fully supported. We need better recognition.
