I want to understand the process of doing a fft in wsxm. When I click on the filter tab it generates a circular fringe pattern from which I have to select frequencies for measurement . How can I select the frequencies? And, when I click on measure it shows a value of 1/k. This value is DC at the exact center and goes to a minimum as I drag the cursor along the diagonals. I want to understand this aspect of fft.
I am not familiar with WSxM, but I know quite a lot about FFT and spectral analysis. What seems too be happening is that you see the main lobe and side lobes of a spectrum. My suggestion is: Do revise Fourier-based spectral analysis and use a simulated (generated) signal with several different antileakage windows to try and understand the issue of side lobes in Fourier-based spectral analysis. If I learn, you want to pull some information (frequencies), analyzing via FFT with WSxM software. Fernando´s advice is the best. Other software choices are R, Python, C/C++, thinking you have compiled your data with or without ties. Again, replying Fernando, we need to revise the FFT and Specral Analysis concepts, even.
