I have this on-going project research where I have to determine the concentration of Endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) specifically on 4-octylphenol and 4-nonylphenol on bivalve.

1) I have referred previous studies where they used a variation of dry weights (etc: 0.5 g, 1.0 g, and 2.0 g) in bivalve to extract the compounds. Which one is the best weight to use and why? Does the weight size affect the concentration of the compounds inside the sample either to be easy to trace or not?

2) If most of my bivalve's size sample weighted approximately 0.1 g which lower than the previous studies, can I still proceed with extraction by using wholly 0.1 g of size sample?

I hope you can help me with this question.
