Does tissue need to be perfused for congo red staining?

Does tissue need to be perfused for congo red staining, or can is be done on non-perfused (i.e., bloody tissue)? Also, is 10% formaldehyde in PBS an appropriate fixative?

Hi Vincent J. Coppola, perfused tissue is not necessary, but it should be well fixated. 10% is relatively high. You possibly need to rinse the tissue befor you can start the cutting procedures anyway.
