PAF (Potassium Aluminium Fluoride) is an additive used in aluminium metal recovery from waste material sources and it belongs to a class of materials known as ‘magnetic coolers’. Their effect on the process is known as adiabatic demagnetization such that, by steadily reducing an applied magnetic field the magnetic domains of the material become more disordered.
If now the colour of the material is due to molecular orbital resonance rather than a chemical-element level property, the demagnetization may well alter the colour. However given the above analysis it is very unlikely that as an active parameter the colour change can affect the demagnetization process.
