I have 1 case the isolation this species from hemoculture elder woman. Probably simply bacteremia without expressive symptoms.
Normally I would consider this bacteria a contaminant of the blood culture. Especially if there were no symptoms and especially if there is no imunosupresion. The result has to be interpreted together with the rest of the clinical presentation.
Yes,it is a possibility,but C.imitans is no common saprophyte.Some species would probably considered as contamination.In this case,I´m not quite sure.
Unfortunately,there is little information about the clinical signification of this species.(see G.Funke et al.,1997)
