Dear Respected RG Experts

Is it possible to have any differences in properties of a compound (oxide) given heat treatment one in powder form and another in compact body like pellets (sintering), provided other experimental conditions are same?

It is well known that the mode of giving heat treatment like reducing atmosphere also plays a crucial role in determining the properties of the compound. So, keeping a similar view, the environmental conditions of a compact body like pellets (inside and outside surface layer of the body) and the powder samples of same compound is expected not to be exactly same. So, due to this can we expect any differences in their properties? Or Is it dependent on the nature of the particular compound such as (in)stability to certain temperature or other factors?

Your kind views and suggestions are most welcome.

With best regards
