Yes it is suitable for this type of experiment. Scanning from 100 kHz to 1mHz should be more thant enough.

It entirely depends on the application. The critical factor will be whether the PGZ100 (VoltaLab 10) has the sensitivity to provide the desired measurement range of the biosensor.

Nevertheless, the device seems to provide fairly typical perfomance for a budget instrument.

For the lowest current range of 1 µA , it will depend on your biosensor type and the Frequencies/decade 5,10,15 should be fine as well.

The scan rate is set for the voltammetry experiments.

I agree with Marie Berthuel, but do want to emphasize that while the low current range is the most likely specifcation that is going to limit you, you should be very careful with EIS measurements if you are going to be anywhere close to the system limits.

I would strongly recommend running some EIS tests on dummy cells to establish how well the system performs. In your case probably a 10 kOhm resistor--maybe larger if your electrodes are small--and an open lead [EIS] test. It would probably also be useful to run a (10?) nF capacitor.

If you get good data from the resistor and capacitor you can have better confidence in the data you are getting from your sample.

The open lead test is to establish a hardware limit. It won't be great but based on the specs it should be better than 1 MOhm at low frequencies.

but i have screen printed electrode rather than the conventional electrochemical cell, does the voltalab 100 suitable to do the experiment with such kind of sensor? is it reliable? also i have a problem in the test setup and i need a help to cover it!

You would need to call Voltalab to see if they could provide you with a cable adapted to screen printed electrodes.

If they can't help you with this issue, you may want to check this link :

DropSens usually provides these kind of cables. But, in answer to your question, the Voltalab potentiostat should be fine with a 2-electrode system as well. You would need to connect the RE and the CE together against the WE.

I use three electrodes (screen printed), and i have cable connect the screen printed electrode in one terminal and the second terminal is three cable ( WE, RE and CE) , I tried to connect those electrodes to the potentiostat we have , but I am worry from the cable nose, i repeat the test and get different results, so I am start thinking that this type of potentiostat may design for corrosion testing only?

If you are using a 3-electrode system, I would first suggest to check the potentiostat with a "dummy cell".

If the results still do not meet your expectations, you may want to check if all the connections are robust and clean, especially the crocodile clips (check for corrosion etc...). Then check the cable itself, are there any cuts or damages?

Also you may want to check if there is an auto current-ranging, sometimes the potentiostat constantly tries to adjust the current range and this can lead to noise.

Finally, have you tried another SPE? Maybe the issue comes from this specific SPE which isn't responding well.

For further information I would suggest to directly contact the manufacturer.
