science fiction, fantacy, animation series and movies are watched by children and a specific group of adults. does it signify any relationship with the personality type/ personality of the adult watching it?
Stephen Cheung , the user was asking about personality disorders rather than types.
Personality disorders are so varied that I think you need a more specific hypothesis. And, indeed, although sci-fi and fantasy are often shelved side-by-side, they too are quite different. And diverse.
Ask yourself : if I found an association between, say, Dark Triad personality disorders and interest in dungeons-and-dragons fantasy, how would I interpret it? Do I have a theoretical basis for understanding it? Does it link up with other literature on literary preferences and on personality disorder? How does it fit into our understanding of Dark Triad personality disorder?
If you can't answer these questions, the risk is that your results will be little more than an anecdote – a curious fact for which we have no particular interpretation.
Personality disorder may distort the perceiving, May lead to early identification or obsession depending upon type of disorder. This is big spectrum hence one can not make universal statement. Pattern of mal adaptation and psychodynamic factors will be crucial to ascertain the relationship. of course, personality types bear great relation ship with movie preferences.
In my opinion, this is too far-reaching thesis. Science fiction novels, short stories, movies and series have a lot of fans. Are there studies that confirm that fans of science fiction novels, short stories, movies and series have significantly more people than the general population who exhibit personality disorders or other mental health conditions? I have not encountered the results of scientific research that could confirm the occurrence of this type of correlation.
