Dear friends, this is regarding Total Dissolved Solids test. when we have a oil mixed sample how do we analyze TDS? when sample is filtered through a glass micro fiber filter paper, oil in the sample tends to go to the filtrate, then after evaporation, oil remains in the dish. is this an interference? oil can not be a dissolved solids? positive interference? please explain
Oil concentration shouldn't be interfere the Total Dissolved Solid (TDS). As I know, you need to separate the oil and water first. Then, the water will be tested to determine the TDS. If there is a small amount of oil contaminant in the water, it shouldn't give a big impact in the result.

Saman Jayasena Got it. The common separation that I do is between crude oil with water. I think you need further research whether my statement above could be applicable too in coconut oil or not.
