The literature shows that major depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and obsessive compulsive disorder are the most common mental disorders in the developing and developed world. Studies show that a lack of certain dietary nutrients contribute to the development of mental disorders and essential vitamins, minerals, and omega-3 fatty acids are often deficient in the general population and in patients suffering from mental disorders. Further research is required to determine the best recommended doses of most nutritional supplements. Psychiatrists can recommend doses of dietary supplements based on previous and efficacious studies and adjust the doses based on the results obtained. Encouraging the integration of nutritional intervention with other diet therapies with certain nutrients make therapy acceptable for neuropsychiatry disorders. The use of dietary activators of the anti-aging gene Sirtuin 1 is critical for the treatment of various mental disorders such as major depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and obsessive compulsive disorder. Nutritional dietary supplements need to contain Sirtuin 1 activators for the reversal of mental disorders and neuropsychiatric disorders.
