Physical expression of extended phenotypes (e.g. Dawkins 1981) differs from physical expression of phenotypes producing physical expression of extended phenotypes.

Should any form of energy produced by, or reflected from, phenotypes and expressed outside the body holding genes be defined as extended phenotypes?

Extended phenotypes from bodies could be reflectance patterns resulting from light waves, heat or other types of 'invisible' energy produced by or reflected from bodies, or energy (e.g. sound, molecules) produced by physical action of bodies or body parts and transported through different types of medium (air, water). Perception mechanisms of living beings (brains, neurons) will transform received energy of distant mass into exploitable information to be used in social communication or individual-environment interactions.

Empirical science practice based on observation and analysis of reflectance patterns apparently study phenomena from the past given there is always a difference between the onset of emission (e.g. onset of reflectance) and the onset of perception, whatever the distance of the observer and techniques applied.

Scientific empirical observation from any distance (>0.000000000....1 mm) of any 'mass' will only give access to the study of extended phenotypes, not phenotypes.
