Literatures showed that cow’s milk was traditionally used alone or sometimes it was used as a solvent to formulate the decoction of the plant material for the treatment of peptic ulcer by the tribal peoples. Recently several studies have reported that milk protein components have a broad range of biological activities, the potential role of these proteins in the gastrointestinal mucosal defense system is now well elucidated. Matsumoto et al., 2001, reported that alpha-lactalbumin (alpha-LA) an active component of cow’s milk have a protective effect against ethanol-induced gastric injury in Wistar rats.
