According to Podsakoff et al. (2003), measuring some types of construct (i.e. attitude, personality .. etc.) would probably exist bias due to systematic bias - common method variance/bias (CMV/CMB). However, I found that in my research that most of constructs are perceptional or self-referencing (i.e. Work-family conflict/enrichment/balance). Is there any thesis articulating that these constructs could avoid the threat from CMV, or anyone who has experiences dealing with this issue?
Pretty much any measure will result in some amount of method specific variance. As Campbell and Fiske (1959) pointed out in their seminal Psychological Bulletin article on the MTMM matrix, each measurement can be seen as a trait-method unit, reflecting both trait and method (e.g. rater) variance. Every measurement is specific in some way--nothing is completely objective. Especially not self- and other report measures.
