I think chloramphenicol is not more effective against bacteria. My suggestion would be to use nanoantibiotics rather than antibiotics. We have tested streptomycin in our lab, and found most of bacteria have become resistant to streptomycin. 

Yes Dr. Abbas is very much true that bacteria has now developed resistivity to streptomycin amendment. This happened to me also. However, I have not observed any bacteria in case of Rose Bengal Agar plates amended with chloramphenicol. So, I would suggest you to go with RBCA media for better efficacy of chloramphenicol if possible.

In my opinion to eliminate any excuse for testing your isolated fungi for their antibacterial activity,; you should subculture isolated fungi on media without any antibiotics and then later can try for your targeted study. Even a trace concentration always matters/interferes, so best way try to first get fungal colony on media without antibiotics and then later test for activity.

yes, the antibiotic in PDA can have a confounding effect in your antibacterial assay. First you need to transfer the fungus into water agar or PDA 10% without any additional compound  (or antibc.) and after incubation (5-7 days depend on the growth speed of your fungi) to take the fungal plugs from the border of the already developed colony to assay them against bacteria.
