I want to measure elite athletes' muscular endurance of quadriceps muscle by using isokinetic dynamometer. Therefore I need a protocol. I have found some protocols but I need for elite athletes.
We have not published on this, however we use a system that does not only capture isolated knee function but the lower extremities in extension patterns (squats). You can obviously do different movements with this system, but I assume that you would like to measure the lower extremities. We use a power endurance protocol and look at the decrease (percentage) in maximum or average power from the first 1-3 repetitions to the last 3 repetitions. How many repetitions you would like to use for this purpose is up to you. We usually use 20-30 repetitions. Here is a link to the system: http://1080motion.com and we use the smith with the Quantum Synchro. Hope this has been of help
Thank you for your answer Ola. Do you mean I can use the mean of last 3 rep/mean of first 3 rep calculation to obtain muscular endurance performance? Do you have article which you used this method?
Hi, have no published work on this yet. This is a method we apply clinically. I think the construct here is good, but needs reliability testing. As for method, avg max power of first 3 (1-3) repetitions and then avg max power of last 3 reps (17-20) of say 20 reps. Then use percentage decrease.
