i am new to SEM but only use a MAC. I read about different software and don't have time to learn R, so wondering if people have found a particular software useful.
Thanks for your answers, Rorbert and Kelly. very helpful. I am comfortable using SPSS so it looks like i may have to get one of the virtual PC products.
The definitive program for SEM as of now is Mplus.
It has capabilities for almost every type of data, it can perform all types of analyses in currently use, and there is really a lot of learning material. It has an easy command language, since the most used default conditions are implemented, but it is possible to overrule these. There is a subroutine, called Diagrammer, which will show the models graphically for most analyses.
Mplus is available on the MAC, the only difference is that in order to get data plots you have to use the R program with the HDF5 package. Or you may install the program using a virtual box utility as mentioned by Kelly. (However, ask the Mplus team to be sure that Mplus works with virtual box).
