It is a substrate for the measurement of xylanase activity. We used to get this from Sigma Aldrich but they no longer supply it and we can't find any other supplier.

Megyzyme has several xylan substrates, although they are from different plant sources

They also have their own test kits for xylanase activity.
We know about the substrates from megazyme and use them for our tests. But they only have the chromogenic substrates. For research and registration purposes we also use the non-chromogenic substrates like birchwood xylan, beechwood xylan or xylan from oat spells.
The birchwood xylan is no longer available and now the oat spell xylan is also unavailable. We are gonna try with MP Biomedicals, thanks!
