I'm interested in using CL-01 cell line for my experiments, but Novus Biologicals discontinued its production. Is it possible to find it somewhere in stock? Thanks!
If no other vendors are selling the line you have 2 options.
Contact Novus and ask why it was discontinued/if it is coming back, then cross your fingers and toes that you get it somehow
or
Likely more fruitful, contact the researchers who developed it directly(or have your PI do that). You typically will have to sign a Material Transfer agreement that lays out how you are to use the cell lines and how to attribute credit from the work done. It will also deal with whether or not you can share the cells with others(typically not allowed), who has the rights to any commercial product derived from your work on the cells. Make sure you read and abide via this legal agreement! If you are polite, offer to pay for all costs associated with the transfer and offer to credit them when appropriate almost all researchers are willing to share(Just make sure to pay it forward)!
The info below seems to indicate they are willing to share
Well, I was thinking the same things. First to contact Novus, then to contact the researchers. We have (my PI actually) already sent emails to both and we are waiting for an answer. Thank you too for your reply!
