Substance P undergoes metabolism to produce active biological peptide. Can anyone know the metabolic products peptide sequence of substance P through NEP.
NEP tends to cleave Gly-Phe bonds on peptidic sequences, because they get perfectly fit on the pockets before (S1 to Gly) and after (Phe) of the active site. However, this cleavage doesn't seem to be totally specific and there are other points that could be attacked. Particularlly, I found that NEP cleaved substance P at Gln6-Phe7,-Phe8, and Gly9-Leu10, so the sequence of those products from substance P (RPKPQQFFGLM) will be a combination of those cleavages like: RPKPQQ, RPKPQQF, RPKPQQFFG, FFGLM, FFG, FGLM, FG and LM
I attach the link to the paper where I found it, in case you need more information.
