I live in Indonesia, and the issue of intolerance with different ethnic and religion is raising. so, I am interesting to know which musicians (by his/her genre) have greater tolerance / empathy. my professor asked me to search for any battery to test musicians' genre, beside my own observation from his/her discography.

If your hypothesis is just that some kinds of musicians are more tolerant/empathic than others, you can invert your research question and (i) measure the degree of tolerance of your sample, (ii) ask the participants how they describe their music style and (iii) see whether for the same levels of tolerance/empathy (high/low, for example) you get similar descriptions.
Classifying musicians is bound to be difficult unless they identify themselves as this or that type of musician.
If you stay with your original plan, I suggest two strategies:
1. Work with a musician to define musical criteria and classify musicians according to those criteria (can't help you there). The quality depends on your informant, of course, but if the criteria are explicit and you really stick to them, you at least ensure your study is understandable and replicable;
2. Assemble a panel of musicians (3-4) not related to your study, define criteria for musicians classification with them, have them classify the musicians in your sample, calculate raters' agreement level, select the musicians with higher raters' agreement and measure your dependent variables in these unambiguous groups.
