Data from immigrants in the USA a century ago show big differences in breastfeeding rates in different ethnic groups, presumably because mothers were passing on their experience. You will do much better looking at historical than modern data.
Thank you for your answer. I am sure that this effect exists and we have observed it in a cohort study, but have been unable to detect papers on it in medline - difficult to phrase the question, probably.
