My assumption is that using Argon as an internal standard for ICP analysis has never worked well, but I'd like to know of any documented publications on this. Much thanks!!
Good question... I must confess I never came across one but also would be interested to know if some exist.
My personal experience is that using Argon to monitor the plasma has its use (like the 420 nm wavelength myself) but should not be recommended as an internal standard.
I trust in Ytttrium or Scandium myself, along with matrix matching if needs be (high solids for instance).
