I am looking for a UV transparent gel to suspend nanoparticles in so we can measure their absorption of UV radiation with a spectrophotometer. We are trying to measure their absorption as if they were suspended in air, not as a dense layer of particles.

Nanoparticles suspended in a gel cannot be smoke models (nanoparticles suspended in air). Nanoparticles interact with water and functional groups of the gel polymer. This is reflected in the UV spectra of the mixture. With this in mind, we can recommend polyvinyl alcohol or polyethylene glycol, which is transparent in the UV region of the spectrum. But even this gel will affect the visible spectrum of silver nanoparticles.

The gels you listed are hydrophilic gels and are therefore called hydrogels. Polyacrylamide and hyaluronic acid absorb electromagnetic radiation in the UV region.
