I am working in cave systems and I'd like to compare my TOC dry weight %'s with TOC/SOC from forest soils. My TOC %'s are anywhere from 0.2-1.8%.

Mara,   your question is in tune with latest attraction on soil quality assessment and subjected to loss of  soil carbon in response  to ongoing climate change issue.  Therefore , triggering carbon sequestration by the soils is the call of the day in modern Soil Research .  Organic carbon and  its distribution  either horizontally or vertically in a given soil type is the signature of the soil quality .
