PPAR-gamma agonists and their role in type 2 diabetes mellitus management.

Many insulin sensitizing drugs (namely, the thiazolidinediones) used in the treatment of diabetes target PPARG as a means to lower serum glucose without increasing pancreatic insulin secretion.

Dear Kishna, in obesity PPAR-gamma receptors are not stimulated sufficiently, for example throught visfatin. Apart from glucose homeostasis, thiazolidinediones may affect on adipocytes, according to adiposopathy, they can increase a healthy fat amount.
